Britain mulls free meals to combat obesity problem

London, Sept 25 (PTI) The British government is in the final stages of plan to provide free meals in schools to combat the obesity problem in the country.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that almost one in four British children in reception year in schools were overweight or obese and this rose to one in three in year six.

The 1 billion pounds programme would form part of the Labour government's attempt to tackle obesity, which costs Britain's National Health Services 4.2 billion pounds a year.
