Bob Costas could have passed as a stand-up comedian rather than a nationally renowned sports broadcaster Wednesday night when he took the stage at the Temple Adath Yeshurun's 20th annual Citizen of the Year dinner in DeWitt.
"I have never actually felt a deeper connection to the Jewish community than in Beijing when I ate Chinese food every Sunday night," Costas said to the 640 people in attendance.
To the tune of "Pomp and Circumstance," Costas took the stage with three of the four local honorees, following a procession of more than 25 past honorees to their seats at the front of the room.
