CITIES are being accused of producing almost 80% of greenhouse gas emissions and it's not fair, according to a study by the International Institute for Environment and Development.
In a statement yesterday, the institute said cities were often blamed for 75% to 80% of emissions, but the true value was closer to 40%.
Author of the study, David Satterthwaite, a senior fellow at the institute, said blaming cities for greenhouse gas missed the point that cities were a large part of the solution.
