Static Mixers

Static mixers use straightforward mixing processes based on dividing and recombining linear flows. However, problems can arise involving dwell times, high pressure gradients, and structure. Jahn et at. have developed a static mixer module based on a disc that has holes with front input channels and rear mixing channels. These simple modules can be conveniently assembled in series for optimal mixing. Rotation of adjacent modules prevents the development of preferred flow channels.
