MARIETTA, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 7, 1996--UniComp, Inc. (NASDAQ:UCMP) today announced with its subsidiary, Smoky Mountain Technologies, Inc. (SMT) the beta release of a new version of its Universal Payment Software (UPS), part of SMT's UniPay line of products, running on Windows NT.

This new version of Universal Payment Software will allow point-of-sale software developers to take advantage of the increased performance levels associated with the Windows NT Server.
