COLUMBIA, Md., and WASHINGTON, Aug. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Dyad Pharmaceutical Corporation announced today that they have received a United States patent for sequence specific hybridization of RNA by a novel 2'-5' configuration of oligonucleotide. These oligonucleotides are joined by the 2'-5' bond connections instead of the normal 3'-5' bond connections observed in DNA and RNA. The unique property associated with 2'-5' connected oligonucleotides is in their ability to bind selectively with RNA and not with DNA. Dyad's broad patented discovery may have extensive applications in diagnostics and in anti- sense therapy.
