Bradlees is renovating its high-profile Union Square store in Manhattan, New York, NY. The discount store unit began producing flat sales in 1995 shortly after its highly publicized opening. The redesign, which is expected to be completed in Oct 1996, includes adding new signs and fixtures, moving key departments and expanding merchandise selections.
NEW YORK -- It opened big in 1994 drawing discount shoppers from all over the city, then turned flat in 1995. Now undergoing cosmetic changes, Bradlees' high-profile Union Square store, here, is on the road to recovery, according to Peter Thorner, president and chief operating officer.
