He doesn't normally do interviews, and once removed a poster of himself that was too flattering, yet beneath the self-deprecation and modesty, Michael Gambon loves to laugh, especially at himself. As the Dublin-born actor takes Pinter's 'No Man's Land' to London, he has a chuckle with Barry Egan
Michael Gambon looks as if he has just woken up fully clothed in unfamiliar surroundings. (Like his character in Harold Pinter's No Man's Land, perhaps.)
I'm told he is extremely shy and doesn't usually do interviews. So the theatre-goers gawping over at him doubtless add to his sense of unease at my tape recorder.
