Government s plan to increase the nation s power generation to 10,000 megawatts by 2011 is suffering a hiccup as Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) and Agip, a major oil producing company, cannot reach a fresh sales purchase agreement (SPA) on phase 2 of the 480 Megawatts Okpai Power Plant.
This is supposed to increase power generation at the plant to 960mw. The first agreement bounds PHCN to pay Agip about N700 million monthly for power purchased from the plant, but Business Day learnt that PHCN was seeking softer terms for the SPA for the other phase.
