Alitalia SpA's biggest union approved a government-brokered rescue plan with an investor group led by businessman Roberto Colaninno, raising the prospects of an agreement to save the airline from collapse. The carrier's 7,000 pilots and cabin crews remain the final obstacle for an accord. The Italian government extended a deadline for a labor agreement to 1 p.m. tomorrow, said Cabinet Secretary Gianni Letta in a statement. Cgil, Italy's largest labor group, today ratified the accord for 3,250 job cuts, or about 17 percent of Alitalia's workforce. Cgil represents most of Alitalia's ground staff.
