In this volume (114) of the distinguished Handbook of Experimental Pharmacology series, Kranzler has compiled 19 review chapters from leaders in the areas of preclinical and clinical research on the pathophysiology and pharmacological treatment of alcohol abuse and its complications. While there are several excellent chapters in this book, a more consistent focus on drugs and clinical regimens for the treatment of alcoholism would have been an improvement.
