American Apparel, Inc. (Amex: APP), which operates the largest garment factory in the United States, announced the achievement of important milestones this year in the rapid global expansion of its business, at a press conference attended by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.
American Apparel announced that its total worldwide employment recently topped 10,000. Since the beginning of the year, the company has hired approximately 3,500 employees worldwide, including over 2,500 manufacturing employees at its "sweatshop free" production facilities in Southern California. American Apparel now manufactures approximately 275,000 garments per day.
