SALT LAKE CITY - American Drug Stores has come full circle.
The drug chain founded by L.L. Skaggs 59 years ago (and run until last year by his nephew Sam) with a single PayLess drug store in Rochester, Minn. - the Osco name was adopted in 1942 - has just entered two new markets in the upper Midwest: Milwaukee and Des Moines.
Though three of Osco's initial five stores were opened in Iowa, and the retailer is well represented in Wisconsin, both Milwaukee and Des Moines are new markets for the 825-store drug chain. Historical significance aside, the entries - six stores have just been opened in Milwaukee, five in Des Moines, with several more scheduled for each ...
