Toronto played host to a living legend in October with a marathon appearance at Bloor Cinema by Kenneth Anger, probably the most famous of all underground filmmakers. Sporting the customized Rangers hockey jersey he wears to all his public appearances (the R and S were removed by a boyfriend so that it just reads ANGER), the spry and roguish 76-year-old leapt up on stage and accepted thunderous applause from the near-capacity crowd with open arms and a theatrical bow. Although he's notorious for being moody and unpredictable, Anger definitely knows how to turn on the raunchy charm for an audience, and he gives good anecdote.
