I read the article "Going Green May Make You See Red" by Mark McLees regarding blown-in cellulose insulation in the June 2008 issue of Firehouse [R]. I thought it was a very well-written and informative article. I would like to add a few things, if I may. I am a firefighter in Arizona, where good insulation is a must to keep the heat out of a structure and keep the electric bills to a minimum. I have been on a couple of dozen of fires in attics with cellulose insulation. (My experience with cellulose insulation fires comes from when I was at the Lake Havasu City Fire Department in Arizona. I retired from there in December 2007 as a division chief with 34 years of service.) ...
