A multisensor system for high precision, noncontact vehicle ground speed measurements has been developed, based on data obtained from long term railway measurements. The system merges a set of new technical features that includes a microwave front end with spread-spectrum coding and flicker noise suppression, an accelerometer and sophisticated digital signal processing.
