CHILLICOTHE, Ohio _ Amy Nichols Swanson wasn't even born on Feb. 20, 1962, when then-Marine Lt. Col. John Herschel Glenn Jr. of New Concord, Ohio, orbited the earth three times and put America back in the space race.
But Swanson, 25, knows about John Glenn the astronaut and John Glenn the senator _ and she considers him a personal hero, a shining example of what a public servant should be.
