Aug. 27--Clear skies and warm temperatures cast the spotlight on the groundbreaking crew of Cirrus Design Corp. Monday at the Grand Forks Industrial Park. "We have two sunshines today," Grand Forks mayor Pat Owens said.
Cirrus unveiled plans for the new facility, which is projected to employ approximately 250 people in the Grand Forks area by 1998.
During the ceremony a Cirrus SR20 aircraft flew overhead. The Grand Forks manufacturing plant will build wings and other subassemblies for the SR20 aircraft. Between 50 to 75 people, including Gov. Ed Schafer and Cirrus president Alan Klapmeier, participated in the ceremony.
