STURBRIDGE - The controversial Zoning Study Subcommittee appears to be no more after last night's vote by the Planning Board.

The subcommittee, which was created by the Planning Board and the Board of Selectmen, has been called "a good committee to have" by Selectman Steven G. Halterman and a "dysfunctional group" that had been "hijacked by special interests" by Planning Board member Thomas R. Creamer.

The Planning Board last night voted 6-1 to immediately dissolve the subcommittee. On Sept. 2, the selectmen voted 3-2 to keep the subcommittee. That made a combined vote of 8-4 for the subcommittee's dissolution.
