An Israeli human rights group says Israeli authorities and settlers have seized large plots of land surrounding settlements in the occupied West Bank and are blocking Palestinians from accessing them. Citing security reasons, Israel has taken control of more than 1,100 acres of land around 12 Jewish settlements on the eastern side of the separation barrier it is building in and along the West Bank, according to a new report by B'Tselem. The territory was then fenced off together with the settlements, more than doubling them in size, the report said. Half of the closed-off lands are privately owned by Palestinians, it added.
