If the idea is to make the opponent one-dimensional - and so many coaches say it is - then Boise State had its way with Oregon on Saturday.
For three quarters, the Ducks didn't dare throw, after suffering yet another injury at quarterback. Then, passing became their only hope.
Ultimately, the Broncos escaped Autzen Stadium with a 37-32 win over No. 17 Oregon before 58,713 fans. But it was only that close thanks to a precocious effort by UO true freshman quarterback Darron Thomas in the fourth quarter to dig the Ducks out of a 24-point hole.
