Weighing 1,270,000 lb. and with a payload capacity of 0 tons, the 960E-1 ac electric drive truck is the newest and largest introduction from Komatsu America Corp. The 960E-1 expands Komatsu's electric mine haul truck offering to six trucks, ranging from 145 to 360 ton capacities.
Komatsu introduced its first ac electric drive mine haul truck in 1996 with the 930E. Today, the 930E remains Komatsu's best-selling truck with more than 650 units operating in the field, said the company. The design of the 960E-1 truck carries over components from the 930E model such as the electrical, hydraulics and service system, Komatsu said.
