The safety committee: just the tip of the iceberg.(USHA alliance news)

"It's just the tip of the iceberg." This cliche, derived from a gigantic mass of floating ocean ice and the Titanic tragedy, is familiar to all of us. More often than not, it is used in a negative connotation, especially when related to safety. "The cost of this injury is just the tip of the iceberg! We will have to retrain someone for this position, pay for the long term medical bills, and pay the fines from OSHA."

The phrase, however, can have a positive connotation in your safety program. What if someone told you that implementing one committee, which meets monthly for one hour, could save you five percent on your insurance premiums? What if they added: "That's just the ...
