MySpace Music will be rolling out this month with free, ad-supported streaming music and relationships with Universal, Sony BMG and Warner Music, who hold over 75% of the US album market.
It is in talks with EMI, which claims another 9% of that market. Nearly every music group today has a MySpace page. Oddly enough, even with the potential to advertise to more than 30 million unique monthly visitors--MySpace held 72% of the social networking market share as of June --almost every piece of coverage for this event expects MySpace to fail at its music endeavor. Why is that?
