In this centennial year of the modern Olympic Games, the RQES recognizes and pays tribute to the Olympic movement and its legacy with this special feature. The seeds of this feature were sown during the preparation of the Brown & Benchmark Heritage Symposium held at the 1996 AAH-PERD Convention in Atlanta. Adopting the theme, "Pierre de Coubertin and the modern Olympic Games," the symposium invited three notable scholars to present their research on Coubertin, one of the principal movers behind the revival of the Olympics.
