Article: Positive signals to Poland.(Jewish organizations and Polish government meet on return of property to heirs of World War II dead)

A number of world Jewish organizations have been holding discussions with the Polish government with regard to returning property and possessions confiscated from three million Polish Jews who died in Nazi concentration camps during the Second World War, and which was nationalized by the Polish Communist government after the war.

One of the principle bargaining chips of the Jewish organizations, talks with the Poles is the latter's request to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). NATO had made Poland's acceptance to the organization contingent on the return of the confiscated property to its rightful owners, or their heirs.
