I've been reading up on these little buggers that inhabit your bed (and can cause allergic reactions like sneezing; wheezing; itchy, puffy eyes; and eczema), because a publicist recently invited me to send in my pillow so it could be tested for mites. In exchange, she sent me a HoMedics DreamShield Ultra pillow ($20-$120; Linens 'n Things) made of impenetrable 300-thread-count cotton and filled with microfiber that's inhospitable to the critters. This pillow is machine washable! I never knew you could wash a pillow.
