Since Pulitzer Co. chairman Michael Pulitzer forced out St. Louis Post-Dispatch editor William Woo, many in the newsroom wonder what Pulitzer will do next.
Sources say staffers are nervous. They fear the new editor will be more of a businessman than a journalist.
But no one except Pulitzer can really say, and he's not saying. Aside from issuing a statement with an oblique reference to "differences in operating style of our new editor," Pulitzer has been silent.
Pulitzer allowed Woo the fig-leaf of announcing his own retirement on July 5.
