Last October a suicide attack on a KDP office in Mosul killed a party official and a guard, and 5 guards were injured. (10.10.07) This was no isolated incident. And yet much like the violence in Kirkuk, strife in Mosul rarely appears on the American horizon. On New Years Day 2008 a U.S. helicopter fired on a neighborhood in the city wounding 6 civilians. The U.S. army could not be reached for comment. Twenty two days later bombs ripped through an apartment building killing 14 and injuring "as many as 132," according to AP.
