INTRODUCTION
To create usable online information, writers must attend to content, presentation, and organization. As tools for creating and displaying online information advance, writers must also begin to attend to the user interfaces they create and the human-computer interactions that their users will encounter. With recent advances in online information tools, a potential new area for concern is the use of multiple windows to display information. Today's online information tools provide varying degrees of support for the development of multi-window information systems, but few guidelines exist to help writers use these capabilities effectively.
