WEST BROOKFIELD - A recommendation was rejected last night that a dog be destroyed for allegedly attacking three other dogs. One of the dogs had to be euthanized, according to town officials.
Instead of following the recommendation of Animal Control Officer Leah Shattuck, the Board of Selectmen ordered the dog restrained to its owners' Lake Street property. The area must be fenced in, the dog must be muzzled when outside and kept on a 4-foot leash.
The dog, an Akita, belongs to Kathleen M. McMullen and Thomas F. McMullen of 43 Lake St.
