SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 9, 1996--Electronic Arts (NASDAQ:ERTS), a leading global interactive entertainment software company, today announced at the European Computer Trade Show in London, that it has acquired the interactive rights to the 1998 Soccer World Cup.

The license grants Electronic Arts the exclusive rights, outside of Japan, to develop a series of interactive soccer computer and video games based on the World Cup. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
