NEW YORK - With four of the largest prescription to over-the-counter switches in history all in one category, the market for those products is bound to explode.
And that is exactly what has happened in the $1.5 billion-a-year antacid category as four new products launched over the past year have changed the way consumers think about gastrointestinal relief.
The newest breed of antacids, called acid controllers or [H.sub.2] blockers, are low-strength versions of prescription medications previously used to treat ulcers and other digestive disorders.
