Andrew Butcher was a 19-year-old media supervisor at an ad agency in London when he got that peculiar itch that English people get, the kind that makes them want to board a ship and sail for Plymouth Rock or India or someplace else where the food isn't all boiled and hard work is rewarded.
In Butcher's case, it happened after he asked his boss for a raise. He noticed that he was regularly burning the midnight oil long after his co-workers had gone home, and he thought perhaps he deserved compensation for it.
