NEW YORK -- Wippette International Inc., an outerwear manufacturer here, has filed a copyright infringement action against Chadwick's of Boston over a plaid lining in a women's rain slicker.

Wippette's suit says it has been selling a hooded slicker to the trade since 1993 with a copyrighted fabric design it owns. The suit said that Chadwick's ordered, and subsequently received, a sample of the slicker in June 1995 for possible inclusion in its holiday 1995 catalog.
