MONTVALE, N.J. -- Barr Pharmaceuticals Inc. has received final approval from the Food and Drug Administration to manufacture and market a genetic version of Ortho McNeil Janssen's Razadyne (galantamine hydrobromide), 4 mg, 8 mg and 12 mg tablets.

The generic drugs, which are used to treat dementia related to Alzheimer's disease will be made by Barr's subsidiary, Ban Laboratories Inc.

Razadyne tablets had annual sales of approximately $102 million for the 12 months ended June 2008, according to data from IMS Health Inc.
