Sitting in his apartment in Montreal's Plateau neighbourhood, Enrique Rivera Sierra is a long way from home. He arrived here last summer, claiming persecution for opposing a Canadian-operated gold-and-silver mine at a mountain called Cerro de San Pedro, near his home city of San Luis Potosi.
