Q. How does a rainbow form? _Arielle Zigon
A. Ever see a prism or a crystal break sunlight into colors? Raindrops can do the same thing. Sunlight looks white, but it's really made of many colors. When light goes through some shapes of glass or water, the light bends or refracts. But some colors bend more than others. So the colors come out spread apart. To see a rainbow, you need rain somewhere in front of you, and the sun behind you. Sunlight hits the raindrops, and some of it gets bent and bounced back to you. The colors get separated, and you see a rainbow _ or two.
