If you've visited the Child Development Center here, you've undoubtedly noticed the large solar panels outside the building.

The photovoltaic solar array, as its known technically, produces electricity from the sun for the CDC and has saved a few hundred dollars in energy since it was installed in June.

Its primary purpose isn't powering the CDC entirely, since the system is hardly large enough to take the CDC off commercial power. However, as a demonstration project, it's raising awareness about renewable energy on the base.
