Whether clogging up the border, carpeting the lawn or forming a mound at your door that blows in every time you open it, there's no doubt autumn leaves are a pain.
No sooner have you cleared them up than another batch has fluttered down to take their place, and over the next couple of months you will spend much of your time outdoors armed with a rake or broom trying to keep the problem at bay.
Although you may be tempted to cast these pesky leaves in the rubbish, don't - they can be turned into a rich, crumbly compost called leafmould, which can be spread as a mulch or dug into soil to improve its condition.
