DETROIT, Sept. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Residents of Sterling Heights, Mich., will be able to choose enhanced cable TV services from Ameritech (NYSE: AIT) as a result of a franchise agreement unanimously approved last night by the city council.
The agreement authorizes Ameritech New Media to compete with the current cable company in the Detroit suburb, which has a population of about 121,000 people.
Ameritech now has cable TV franchise agreements with 23 Midwestern communities -- 12 of which are in the Detroit area -- with a total population of more than 1.3 million people.
