Early American pioneers were urged to "Go West." In today's high-tech world, insurance pioneers are being urged to "Go Web."
Insurance companies and agencies are racing to establish an Internet presence, some on their own and others as part of veritable insurance shopping malls on the Web.
The typical Web site has the company's or agency's history, FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) and a link to e-mail the "webmaster"--the person in charge of maintaining the site.
Some, however, offer a little bit more, such as quotes on policies, an agency locator, links to other firms owned by or affiliated with the company, and even games.
