Introduction
People from the Visayan Island of Negros - Negrenses - who lived through the Second World War take great pride in having established an island-wide resistance against the Japanese. This pride is evidenced by the fact that Negrenses have been particularly active in recording their experiences of the war years. Most of these accounts were written by key players of the resistance movement, but while they do provide invaluable information on life in the free areas of Negros, they shed little light on life in those areas actually occupied by the Japanese.
