Their message is clear: look up from your molds and ladles to learn your customer's needs and how you can help - or be left in the cold.
Casting purchasers, through industry surveys and meeting presentations, have made it no secret that there's room for improvement among foundries. As reported in one publication's annual survey, for instance, castings received marks of D+ in 1995. Even more, they haven't relented the survey's cellar spot for at least five years.
Casting purchasers are the sort likely regarded with lukewarm feelings by foundrymen, who feel the price pressure even as they read about their customer's profits in the newspaper business sections.
