MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. _ If you're maxed out on tomatoes, bored with basil and tired of thyme, consider growing a cat or perhaps a giraffe.
There are no signs warning that green topiary animals are infectious, but Susan Peterson will tell you, ``I got hooked really bad.'' A garden hobbyist who works in high-tech marketing, she started with a simple green cat topiary and now _ three years later _ finds herself in charge of a topiary menagerie.
A co-worker took her to a topiary workshop at Nature's Alley in Menlo Park, Calif., Peterson says. ``I loved it and came out the door with a topiary cat. I had to have more. One thing led to another.''
