The South African judiciary, which has been under tremendous pressure over the past year from forces within the tripartite alliance, must now move to consolidate its independence and then strengthen it.
The two main thrusts required from the judiciary for the attainment of this goal are its own rigorous transformation and the claiming of its constitutional rights to independence.
There is no doubt in my mind that the achievement of transformation par excellence throughout the judiciary is urgently required to consolidate its already sturdy independence.
