HAWTHORNE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 24, 1996--Taro Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NASDAQ/NMS:TAROF) Tuesday announced that it has received notification from the Israel Ministry of Health approving its applications for carbamazepine controlled release tablets, in strengths of 200 mg and 400 mg, for sale in Israel.

Taro's carbamazepine controlled release tablets are bioequivalent to Tegretol/a CR, an anticonvulsant which is used in the treatment of epilepsy and is sold in Israel, throughout Europe, and many other parts of the world. The company will sell its carbamazepine controlled release tablets in Israel under the brand name Teril/b CR.
