NEW YORK, Sept. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Toyota Motor Corp. (Nasdaq Small Cap: TOYOY) started its localization of production in North America in 1986 when the first U.S.-built Toyota, a Corolla, rolled down the line at NUMMI, New United Motor Manufacturing Inc. in Fremont, California. It produced 14,246 Corollas in North America that year. Ten years and more than $5 billion investment dollars later, Toyota announces that as of the start of September 1996, Toyota's cumulative production of cars and truck in North America exceed FOUR MILLION.
