SPIRO AGNEW IS DEAD, AND BOB DOLE STILL doesn't know it. He doesn't know that what Agnew himself called "the politics of [polarization," which have worked so brilliantly for the Republican Party for the last 80 years, are played out with the swing-vote suburban "soccer moms"--and even dads. Agnew (with the help of speechwriter Pat Buchanan) labeled antiwar protesters "an effete corps of impudent snobs."
