Operators of MPDs at newer, high-volume stations with three- and five-phase submersible pumps may be the most likely candidates for flow limiter products that ensure compliance with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's new 10-gpm (gal./min.) restriction, the so called "spitback rule."
"A lot of MPDS at busy stations that have multiple hose points - 24-36 points -- have attempted to get hose rates up when they have three or four people pumping at the same time," notes Steve Dean, product manager for vapor recovery products for OPW Fueling Components, Cincinnati.
